Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month in the Millennium Hall and start at 7.45 pm. There is no meeting in August.

All Parishioners are welcome. Come along to voice your opinions or concerns, and to keep abreast with activities of the Council.

Councillors - Areas of responsibility

Portfolios for the year May 2010 – April 2011 are as follows:

 

Financial Officer: The Clerk

 

Planning Committee: The core members will be the Chairman, Cllrs. Andrews and Hasell together with three other Councillors including the Councillor who lives nearest the property.

 

Footpaths Working Group: Cllrs. Hasell, Cox and the Chairman.

Cllr. Hasell will be responsible for operation of the B&NES footpath agency

scheme, chair the group and be spokesperson on all other matters.

 

Responsibility for King George V Playing Fields matters: Cllrs. Cox and Cornelius

 

Finance: Cllrs. Andrews and Slade

 

Health Issues and defibrillator: Cllr. Leach

 

Youth issues and liaison with youth workers: Cllr. Slade

 

Spokesperson on trees, hedges and verges: Cllr. Andrews assisted by the Chairman

 

Public transport issues: Cllr. Davis

 

Crime and public safety: Cllr. Cornelius

 

Parish open spaces: Cllrs. Timson, Hasell and Slade

 

Spokesperson on BIA issues including representative to Parish Councils’ Airport Association: Cllr. Timson

 

Spokesperson on environmental/sustainability issues including liaison with Target 80 and other Valley initiatives: Cllr. Scholefield.

 

Flood Warden Scheme: Cllrs. Timson, Cornelius and Leach, and the Clerk

 

Representatives on the OSR Management Committee: Cllrs. Andrews, Davis and Slade.

 

Liaison with Chew Magna Fair Trade Steering Group: Cllrs. Hasell and Leach.

 

Representative to PACT meetings: Cllr. Slade

Liaison with Chew Magna Primary School: Cllr. Scholefield

 

The Chairman and Vice-Chairman would continue their close oversight of and involvement in key issues such as relocation of the Doctors’ surgery and affordable housing, and would involve relevant Councillors.
