Chew Magna Parish Voluntary Car Transport Scheme

Home Page

Dear Parishioner,

We are working towards setting up a voluntary car transport scheme to help those living in the parish. The scheme would be similar to others operating within the Chew Valley and aims to help parishioners who need to get to the various health services in our area but have no alternative means of transport. The scheme would aim to cover short trips to the village to visit the GP surgery, the optician, the dentist, and also visits further afield such as the eye hospitals and the BRI/Southmead hospitals. It would also include helping people wishing to visit friends and relatives in hospital.

The service will operate as a charity.  Our clients will pay a set charge per mile for each journey, to help cover the cost of o operating the scheme.

To get the scheme underway we need local voluntary drivers who could give a few hours of their time every week or other week and co-ordinators who could do the same. The more volunteers we find the less work there will be for each person.

Kindly ring 01275 332534 if you would like more information or if you are able to offer a few hours of your time either as a driver or as a co-ordinator.  We would also like to hear from anyone who feels they might wish or need to use the scheme.

Thank you from Chew Magna Parish Council
